a few weeks ago, i caught up with fantastically fabulous blogger charlotte of lifestyle blog charlottelouiset. having first met at a birmingham blogger meet earlier in the year, we soon came to realise we live very close and share one of the best interests a person could have... food! so naturally, we went to try out the lunch menu at browns lane in loughborough.
for starters, we both opted for the calamari. it didn't even matter that we chose the same thing, i mean, come on, it was the obvious choice. the batter was light and crispy as it should be and the aioli was beautiful, with a generous portion. i felt more could have been made of the salad as it was quite simple, almost too simple, with no dressing. some people might like it that way but it seemed like it was there for the sake of it. in all, a fresh and tasty starter accompanied by bloggers taking pictures of bloggers taking pictures...
charlotte went for the sizzling chicken fajita main; i just loved how you could put this all together to your own taste. suitably jealous, this will be something i'll have to try upon my return.
for my main i went for honey glazed ham with egg and chips. succulentham and a perfectly cooked egg. just looking at that yolk you can tell it would be fresh and free range. i also asked for mayo which came in a very cute and quaint mason jar.
we then went to chocolate alchemy to finish off the day with an indulgent mocha and handmade chocolates. mmm!
a natter and a delicious looking menu - what could be better? charlotte has since been again and sent me a picture of their droolworthy pork belly. yep, i'm definitely going to be returning.
