for a traditional english breakfast tea, a delicious selection of made to order sandwiches or a beautifully presented brunch in leicester, look no further than mrs bridges tearooms. it's somewhere i always recommend to local friends and foodies over twitter as well as catch up over a cuppa myself, so really it was about time i shared it on my blog.

having always enjoyed the bbc good food show at the nec in birmingham, you can imagine my excitement when i joined the midlands good food show blogger community at the end of last year. if you're a good food show fan, you'll no doubt be looking forward to the summer event running from june 12th-15th this year too!
with foodie royalty including mary berry, glynn purnell, tom kerridge and john torode set to show their skills in the live supertheatre, it's also a brilliant chance to experience the latest produce, kitchenware, foodie gadgets and bakeware from exhibitors and producers from far and wide.

Just like eggs cooked your favourite way or the perfect cup of tea, there's no doubt there's something to be said about a well cooked steak. For me, I love a rump steak seared until rare and served with peppercorn sauce. So when I was asked if I'd like to give the new Tefal Optigrill a whirl, I jumped at the chance to review this kitchen gadget which promises to grill any steak to your liking every time.

an all american diner restaurant and rather swanky bowling alley; a match made in heaven which all star lanes have got seamlessly covered. after much foodie research and a few recommendations (you know the score) i booked a table and two games of bowling for my boyfriend's birthday road trip up north.
fear not, this is not a restaurant with bowling alley bolted on, nor is it bowling with a soggy side of burger and chips. these guys have got it down, i really mean it. here's why...

hope you're all enjoying the start of your easter break - for those of you working through the bank holiday i tip my easter bonnet to you.
as a lover of chocolate but not so much a fan of creme eggs or hot cross buns, these might be for you too. made from chocolate pastry, a ganache filling and topped with white chocolate milk way eggs, these easter tarts would be the perfect chocolatey bake for those who gave it up for lent. or if you didn't, just make them anyway :)

on a fresh, sunny spring evening, there's nothing quite like a light, warming meal with home baked bread and cold glass of wine. chicken provenҫal is a french inspired dish which embraces the union of garlic, rosemary, marjoram and thyme in a mouthwatering tomato sauce. this weekend, i tried out this simple recipe from the latest schwartz slow cooker spice mix collection along with a freshly baked cheese loaf.

In search of the ultimate veggie burger, I happened to catch Simon Rimmer rustling up a pretty delicious offering on Sunday Brunch the other weekend. If you saw it too, you might remember him saying that he doesn't put a vegetarian burger option on the menu until it's absolutely perfect. So it had to be a good recipe, right?
I really wanted to make a proper dirty looking burger where the patties were actually made up of a yummy veg combination. There's nothing quite like your five a day smothered in cheese and mayo...

My mum has been collecting all sorts of beautiful vintage crockery of late - including a full four serving set with sugar bowl and milk jug, as well as a Royal Albert teapot. So for her birthday I couldn't wait to treat her to a homemade afternoon tea at her home.
Planning classic sandwiches, the usual suspects were salmon and cucumber, egg mayonaise, ham, cucumber and cheese. To accompany we enjoyed English Breakfast and Earl Grey tea, with double chocolate brownies (not so traditional) and a bright pink birthday cake to finish.

A simple vegetarian recipe made up of a Mexican bean medley, homemade guacamole and Quorn chicken style pieces cooked in fajita spices. I've been making a lot of tortilla and burrito styles dishes lately so thought I'd share this one with you too.
