Vinteas Leamington Spa Review
Vinteas Leamington Spa Afternoon Tea

Let's get this out of the way, you're going to have a lot of teacup, teapot and plate envy in this post. When I went for afternoon tea at Vinteas in Leamington Spa, I was in total awe of their vintage style crockery collection. The tea, scones and sandwiches were pretty lovely too. If you're ever in the gorgeous Royal town of Leamington Spa, Vinteas is a must visit.

At Vinteas, found on Park Street, don't be surprised if your plate doesn't match your teapot and your chair isn't the same as your friend's. This is all part of the lovely, homely charm. The first to get there, I couldn't decide which teacup to make my own (for the afternoon, I promise) or which well loved chair to sit in.

With a top notch tea selection of 21 varieties, I went for the Earl Grey Darjeeling, which I was told would need 3-4 minutes for perfect brewing time. For the coffee heads, you'll be pleased to know there are five coffee choices too, supplied by the award winning Grumpy Mule company. Elizabeth and I actually accidentally got each others teas at first, so I got to try a cup of their classic English Breakfast too. Both were delightful.

The afternoon tea stand arrived and of course a photography workshop ensued. When everyone was happy with an Instagram-able sandwich pic, we delved into the likes of salmon, cucumber, egg mayo, chicken and cheese. My favourite was easily the smoked salmon, which was on a fluffy white loaf.

Lurking behind the sandwiches were some miniature quiches too; cheese and broccoli. These had a photo shoot all of their own before promptly being devoured. Very fresh and just the right amount of crunchy!

Now, time for sweet. Of course there were the deliciously huge scones with cream and strawberry jam. A must for every afternoon tea!

As part of the package, we were also invited to try a cake. Are you ready for the list? Victoria Sponge, Double Chocolate Layer, Coffee, Banana, Red Velvet, Coconut & Jam, Carrot, Lemon Drizzle, Bara Brith, Dark Ginger, Tiffin, Meringues, Chocolate & Raspberry Torte, Toffee & Walnut Tart, Frangipane Tart... and breathe! That's not counting the gluten free and vegan options available daily.

Can you imagine my glee when there were even options for the frangipane? Out of apricot or raspberry, I went for a slice of the raspberry. Oh wow, it was gooood. Oh, and another pretty plate too.

As you can probably tell, I've been raving about Vinteas ever since, so thanks to Emma for suggesting we go there for our little foodie outing. The afternoon tea comes in at £13.50 per person and can have added fizz for £4. As well as the gluten free and vegan afternoon tea, they have a savoury option featuring pork pies, pate and scotch eggs. As you can see it's no posh, minimalist hotel with white cloths and gleaming cake stands, but this is the perfect afternoon tea if you're looking for traditional charm and quirky crockery.

Luckily, our appetite for pretty plates was sated at the Blighty Bazaar around the corner.

Have you ever been to Vinteas? Where is your favourite place for afternoon tea in the Midlands?

Looking for parking? The Royal Priors shopping centre car park is just around the corner, with the post code CV32 4XT.

Note: We all paid for our afternoon tea. Vinteas did not know we were reviewing the experience and all opinions are my own.

  8. Visited here yesterday because of your lovely review. I thought it was nice, the decor and staff were lovely. Was perfect followed by a spot of rowing on the river. Unfortunately it doesn't come close to beating my favourite afternoon tea place which is Huffkins in Burford. A little closer though.
