summer at bill's restaurant.

Another season brings a fresh and new menu from Bill's. I went along to the thriving Leicester restaurant to see what was new for Summer. Bill's is known for creating twists on classic recipes, with great flavour combinations that was accessible to all tastes. Roll on the Summer menu...

We began with a round of cocktails from the latest offerings, including a Bloody Mary, Aperol Spritz, Peach & Mint Iced Tea and an Espresso Martini. All three delivered on their promised flavours and of course presentation. The evening was off to a good start.

Next we opted for a "while you wait" of Halloumi Bites and ordered our meals too. In the end, these came alongside our starters so perhaps we should have got in earlier for that dish. The halloumi bites were delicious, and my sister who usually wouldn't try halloumi was loving them. As I've said before, Bill's is brilliant at presenting maybe slightly unusual ingredients in everyday dishes.

For starters, we went for the Chorizo Sausage Roll, Calamari, Pea & Mint Soup and Bruschetta with Tomato, Mozzarella and Avocado.

All the starters were new additions, with the soup adapted from the last time my sister's fiance tried it. This time it came with a fun extra of cheese on toast - although the lovely presented soup swirl was no longer there. The chorizo sausage rolls went down very well too, as did my crunchy calamari. The bruschetta was a great starter option too, with an inviting cascade of colourful ingredients.

For mains we had a Fish Pie, BBQ Burger, Sirloin Steak and a special of Beef Fillet with pulled beef and cheese mash. We also ordered a side dish or Sesame Tenderstem Broccoli, although it took until half way through to realise this was never brought out.

The burger was picture perfect and a brilliant Summer BBQ option for outdoor dining. The fish pie, which I ordered, had large chunks of salmon and king prawns which made for a luxurious seafood dish. The steaks as always were really good quality, although we always find them come slightly rarer than you ask.

We rounded off the meal with some of their new Summer dessert (it'd be rude not too). These were ice cream with a fun Bill's branded wafer, their new mini cinnamon doughnuts and a naughty gooey brownie. These were delicious desserts no doubt, and I can imagine that ice cream sundae going down very well over the season. For me, I can't recommend though doughnuts enough. TRY THEM NOW.

In all it was another fantastic meal from the Bill's in Leicester, with some inventive additions for the season. Granted this time there were a few things that could have been brushed up on, but from my previous visits here it's a very rare occurrence! We finished the meal with a little peruse round the shop and some treats to take home.

Have you been to your local Bill's? Have you tried the Summer menu yet?
