Mr Kipling Oat Slices
Mr Kipling Oat Slices UK Review

From their candy pink angel slices to lovely lemon French fancies, everyone knows Mr Kipling for their exceedingly good cakes. Pretty pastels, carefully piped icing, sticky jam and bitesize sweet treats spring to mind when I think of the classic British brand. Although my favourite ever pud, it turns out that you can't live on Bakewell tarts alone. (I know, right?)

With that in mind, Mr Kipling have launched a lighter snack offering to their miniature family. Introducing the Cranberry, Orange & Oat Slice and Dark Chocolate, Coconut & Oat Slices; featuring 100% natural flavours, no hydrogenated fats or artificial flavours. Individually wrapped into perfectly portioned snack packs, the slices cost £1.49 per pack of four.

Mr Kipling Oat Slices Review

First up is the dark chocolate and coconut flavour, which features real oat flakes throughout. Coming in at 137 calories a slice, the bars are jewelled with pieces of real dark chocolate and sprinklings of desiccated coconut. Vegetarians will be pleased too, as both new flavours include veggie friendly ingredients. The traffic light was never going to be green, but compared to other pick-me-ups there is a lot of amber across the board. Even for sugar, which is red, 10% is not bad going for a sweet treat which is said to keep you fuller for longer. This was my favourite flavour and I wouldn't mind indulging in one of these alongside my usual Earl Grey.

The second flavour will be one for the chocolate orange lovers. It has a lovely fragrant tang and is naturally flavoured with lemon juice, sweetened dried cranberries and orange pulp. This one is slightly more red for sugar (12%) but miraculously scores green for saturated fat. So it's basically salad, right? Jokes aside, when a segment of chocolate orange would set you back 5g of sugar and 1.5g of sat fat, this flavoursome little slice is rather appealing. Still love chocolate oranges, but I might just save that one for Christmas indulgence!

To sum up, these little flavoursome flapjacks are really rather lovely and feel like a treat too. With a little less guilt, it turns out you can have your cake and eat it. Someone please pop the kettle on, I'd like an exceedingly good pot of tea.

Turns out Mr Kipling wants to treat my readers to a hamper of their classic favourites too - you lucky things. Simply answer the question and enter via Rafflecopter below!

Giveaway ends at Midnight on Sunday April 17th 2016. Open to UK Mainland only. Good luck!
