k west festive afternoon tea, london.

It's not quite Christmas without a festive afternoon tea. Am I right? Getting truly in the festive spirit, I went along to enjoy the K West Hotel and Spa afternoon tea a few weeks ago. Amongst crazy Christmas markets, gut-busting brunches and photobooth snaps in Shoreditch, we jumped on a tube to Shepherd's Bush for lots of tea, cake, sandwiches and... did I mention tea? Usually a glam rock inspired affair, the hotel had put a merry twist on their usual rock 'n' roll inspired menu.

Wow... I think that's about it?

For the festivities, you can enjoy a choice of classic afternoon tea (£24.50 pp), Processo afternoon tea (£31.50 pp) or a Rock ‘n’ Cocktails tea (£36.50 pp). You can even enjoy the tea at Midnight... a pretty good excuse to party if you ask me!

With records and placemats and metallic crockery, I loved the rock inspired take on tea and cakes. I actually have this one on CD too... it's like they knew! With aptly named cocktails and teas, K West are super proud to showcase their Tea Rex blend; a smoky medley of green tea leaves, natural cherry, peony flowers and aromatic rose petals with a kick of peppercorn. Enjoyed without milk, this tea was seriously flavoursome and refreshing. It had a Japanese feel to it too, which I loved.

It wasn't long before the friendly staff were bringing out our festive feast! Stand out dishes included the cute (and delicious) sliders, great quality smoked salmon and the sprout scotch eggs. What a fantastic idea... and tasty too.

Being very Christmassy and heavy on the dried fruit and boozy flavourings, I wasn't as taken by the dessert. I love nutty and chocolatey flavours so was a big fan of the chocolaye truffle lollies and delectable macarons. I appreciated the effort though and my dining companion fully enjoyed his favourite Christmas desserts in miniature form. And so amazingly presented too!

Alongside we enjoyed a couple of their signature cocktails; Cherry Baby and Stardust. Not steering away from the rock star theme, other cocktails include Hot Love, Wig-Wam Bam and Ballroom Blitzed. A lover of Bakewells and Oriental inspired flavours, the mix of cherry liquor, goji, cherry blossom tea, cherry bitters and fresh blackberries was just the ticket. The other cocktail wasn't so drinkable I'm afraid. With lemon tea Absolute citron vodka, Marie Brizard mint Liquor, Limoncello and Green Lady sparkling tea, there were just too many sharp lemon flavours going on to make it enjoyable and yet not very refreshing. And this is coming from someone who loves sherbet lemon.

Have you tried the Glam Rock Afternoon Tea at K West? Or perhaps indulged in festive afternoon tea this season?

Also we found it really hard to find! If you come out of Shepherd's Bush station and turn right,  look out for a small side road to the left of Belushi's. Don't try walking up to the main roundabout, like we did...

I was invited for a complimentary afternoon tea to review. All opinions are honest and my own, and I can confirm those sprout scotch eggs were amazing.
