strawberries & cream hot chocolate.

Make your mum's day this Mother's Day with an indulgent hot chocolate recipe. Taking on the flavours of strawberries and cream, this decadent recipe is certainly a way to sweet talk her after a year of making your favourite dinner, giving you lifts to places and bailing you out of that phone bill where you went over your data limit. (Thanks Instagram). Seriously though, she's going to love this first thing on Sunday morning, alongside breakfast in bed. You have a few days to taste test it a few times for yourself too...

Shopping list.
(Makes one)
♥ 2 heaped tsp strawberry milkshake powder
♥ 150ml milk
♥ 1 tsp vanilla essence or extract
♥ 2 squares of white chocolate
♥ 20ml single cream
♥ Pink food colouring to decorate, plus a cocktail stick
♥ Fresh strawberries to garnish

Step one. Bring together the strawberry powder and milk in a small saucepan on a low heat. Stir in the vanilla essence and white chocolate until melted.

Step two. Pour into your chosen mug. Whisk up the cream by hand or with an electric frother and pour on top.

Step three. Using a cocktail stick, dip it in food colouring and draw a heart or design on the top of the drink. Garnish with a sliced strawberry!

Have you ever made a twist on a hot chocolate? What are your favourite Mother's Day recipes, or one which you're planning this Sunday 26th?

  1. Ooh this looks so pretty. I hope you haven't spoilt the surprise for you mother. It's been many years since I've had a strawberry milkshake and I've never had a strawberry hot chocolate - I've been missing out!
