Nonna Tonda is headed by James, and his wife, Rebecca, so it really is a proper family business. They spent months travelling around Italy with their 6-month-old son in order to explore and learn the authentic way to make fresh pasta. Their creations come lovingly boxed up for your to cook up in minutes, ready to scatter with cheese and twizzle, slurp, gulp, scoff and devour. 


Straight away, as you unbox the chilled pasta, made just hours earlier, you can tell it is bursting with freshness and quality. The portions are just the right amount too, generous with flavour, and mean that the six portions are great for three meals for two people. 


So how does it work? There will be a dedicated delivery day in your area - mine is Tuesday - and it's easy to skip or cancel a week should you need. You then choose whether you'd prefer vegetarian or meat/seafood to arrive in your box. If you aren't into fish or a certain ingredient though, there's plenty of time to see the week ahead and pause that week until there's something you'd like more. Having made pasta a few times myself (proud owner of a pasta machine here) you can tell the pasta is made with high quality flour and has been lightly dusted by hand before arriving at your door.


This week in particular we went for meat and vegetarian dishes: a double portion of classic pappardelle with ragu and a green pesto gemelli, which with the promotion code would cost just £16.50. The branding is wonderful too, with a clear recipe card explaining the history behind each dish and how to prepare it in a few simple steps.



As the picture suggests, the ragu was a rich dish, with inviting thick ribbons of pappardelle holding the juicy sauce. On the other hand, the veggie dish was light and vibrant pesto with seasonal potatoes and beans running throughout.




Looking at next week, I already can't wait for Tuesday!
