Ever wanted to pretend you're a professional Italian chef in your own kitchen? Here's your chance. Freshly hand crafted pasta, mouthwatering accompaniments and new flavours each week - and for just £16.50 for six portions. Nonna Tonda are one of the newest meal box deliveries on the market - and they really are worth a try.

Nonna Tonda is headed by James, and his wife, Rebecca, so it really is a proper family business. They spent months travelling around Italy with their 6-month-old son in order to explore and learn the authentic way to make fresh pasta. Their creations come lovingly boxed up for your to cook up in minutes, ready to scatter with cheese and twizzle, slurp, gulp, scoff and devour.
Straight away, as you unbox the chilled pasta, made just hours earlier, you can tell it is bursting with freshness and quality. The portions are just the right amount too, generous with flavour, and mean that the six portions are great for three meals for two people.
So how does it work? There will be a dedicated delivery day in your area - mine is Tuesday - and it's easy to skip or cancel a week should you need. You then choose whether you'd prefer vegetarian or meat/seafood to arrive in your box. If you aren't into fish or a certain ingredient though, there's plenty of time to see the week ahead and pause that week until there's something you'd like more. Having made pasta a few times myself (proud owner of a pasta machine here) you can tell the pasta is made with high quality flour and has been lightly dusted by hand before arriving at your door.
This week in particular we went for meat and vegetarian dishes: a double portion of classic pappardelle with ragu and a green pesto gemelli, which with the promotion code would cost just £16.50. The branding is wonderful too, with a clear recipe card explaining the history behind each dish and how to prepare it in a few simple steps.
As the picture suggests, the ragu was a rich dish, with inviting thick ribbons of pappardelle holding the juicy sauce. On the other hand, the veggie dish was light and vibrant pesto with seasonal potatoes and beans running throughout.
Looking at next week, I already can't wait for Tuesday!
In collaboration with Nonna Tonda.

ReplyDeleteFresh pasta that’s been rolled just hours before delivery, generous six-portion boxes, and the choice between hearty meat ragu or a lighter pesto gemelli make this Nonna Tonda review feel like an invitation to cook like an Italian without any faff, especially with the flexible weekly schedule and clear recipe cards that walk you through each dish in a few simple steps. For the full 6-year course, tuition comes to about $48,000, which is roughly ₹40–42 lakh, depending on the exchange rate. ReplyDeleteI love that you’ve shared such a thorough look at the nonna tonda pasta box—it’s the kind of honest, detailed review I always hope to find before trying something new. The way you broke down the texture and how it holds sauce really helped me picture the meal, and I’m already thinking about which of my favourite weeknight recipes would work best with it. I’ve been on a bit of a pasta kick lately, so this came at the perfect time. By the way, if you ever photograph your finished dishes for the blog, I’ve found that a tool like Phototext makes it so easy to add a little label or note right on the image—it’s become part of my own workflow. ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your review of the nonna tonda pasta box – it's made me want to try it myself, especially with that 50% off code! I love how you broke down the whole experience, from the packaging to the taste. It's so handy when a review covers all the little details that actually matter. Speaking of handy tools, I recently found this unpixelizer that helped me clean up some old food photos for my own blog – it was a lifesaver. Thanks for sharing your honest thoughts, and I'm off to check out that discount! For anyone who wants to explore this further, unpixelate may also be a useful resource.
ReplyDeleteThe detail that six portions actually stretches to three meals for two is the number that makes the £16.50 comparable to anything else, and it is the one most meal-box reviews leave out — per-portion pricing means very little when portion sizes vary this much between providers. Worth adding for anyone about to order: fresh filled pasta has a genuinely short window compared to the dried equivalent, so the dedicated delivery day matters more here than with an ambient box. If your delivery day lands badly against the week you actually cook, the skip function is the feature to test first rather than an afterthought. Good to see the founders’ background included too — it explains the flavour rotation. Off-topic: I batch-process food photos with BulkImagen before uploading.
