They always do say you turn into your parents eventually. My mum and I both love a pot of Earl Grey when we go for afternoon tea, and we're partial to the odd gin and tonic too. Taking inspiration from the classic way to drink Earl Grey tea with lemon, I've added a cheeky kick in the form of gin to create this afternoon tea style cocktail. Of course served in your best china... Pinkies up!

christmas lasagne: with turkey, brussels sprouts, bacon and a cheesy stuffing sauce.
Combine your love of pasta and the decadent ensemble of a Christmas dinner to make this delicious Christmas lasagne. Although it may make Italian cuisine purists wince a little, the mix of turkey mince, nostalgic scent of sage, sautéed Brussels sprouts, smokey bacon lardons and cheesy stuffing topping just works.
If you aren't a fan of Brussels, you could always switch them out for carrots or extra onions. But, why would you want to? If you're tempted by this festive combination, you might like my other Christmas recipe, including this Pigs in Blankets Macaroni Cheese.
happy easter cake.
Hope you're all enjoying the start of spring and making and baking some Easter treats. If you haven't made anything yet, here's a little Easter cake to hopefully get you inspired! Showcasing alphabet cutters, piping nozzles, various stampers and a swizzling cake stand - I thought I'd have a go at sugar craft.
homemade peppermint candy cane gin.
I do love a flavoured gin. So when I had some leftover candy canes from Christmas, I thought I'd experiment with some homemade gin myself. This festive favourite is super easy to make, just choose your favourite plain gin, add candy canes and allow it to infuse. This homemade peppermint candy cane gin recipe really is that simple.

pigs in blankets mac 'n' cheese.
Now we’ve opened the first door of our advert calendar, dropped a few hints about pressies and booked that wreath making class. Is it finally December? The season for all things jolly, decking the halls and jingling bells. With that comes some of the best food back in the supermarkets too. Sprouts? Love them. Chocolate log? Can’t get enough. Pigs in blankets? An absolute must.
But when you aren’t conjuring up your Christmas roast, how else can you enjoy some classic pigs in blankets. I’ve created a festive twist on an American classic with this Pigs In Blankets Mac 'n' Cheese recipe. What more could you want in your macaroni cheese than extra little morsels of sausages wrapped in bacon? Bliss. Plus, it’s a great way to use up leftover cheese board too. Not that there is ever any leftover cheese in our household…
rose buttercream plant pot cupcakes.
With February as the month of luuurve, I thought I'd try my had at some Valentine's inspired recipes. I recently bought this rose shape nozzle which I just couldn't wait to try out. So simple to use with lots of different flower shaped nozzles too! I don't know about you, but I'd sooner have 12 flower pot cupcakes than a dozen roses?
easy pumpkin cinnamon buns.
An easy cinnamon bun recipe which is perfect for the pumpkin season. One of my favourite things about Autumn is the excuse for all things hygge. Pronounced hoo-gah, hygge is the concept of cosiness, hailing from Denmark and Norway. Friends, family, fun and loved ones around doing things that you love. Although it's an all year round thing, it perfectly ties in with the Autumn and Winter want to curl up with a blanket with a cuppa and candles.
I'm actually off to Copenhagen for my 30th next week. But for now, I thought I'd satisfy my appetite for all things hygge and Scandi with this Autumn inspired pumpkin cinnamon bun recipe.
christmas tree bakewell biscuits.
With glowing glacé cherries, the subtle hint of almond essence and the signature drizzle of white icing, these delicate Christmas biscuits encompass the best of a Bakewell tart. Great for festive buffets, homemade gift ideas or to keep in your biscuit tin throughout December, these cute Bakewell inspired biscuits are the third of my festive recipes from my Christmas collaboration with Central England Cooperative. And if you like the sound of these, you might fancy making my Cherry Bakewell Mince Pies.
smoked salmon, ricotta and asparagus tart.
Although the weather can't make it's mind up, Spring is finally in full swing. And that means one of my favourite ingredients is in season... asparagus. Perfect with seafood and fish, the colourful asparagus adds an extra something to this smoked salmon and ricotta puff pastry tart. It's super quick and easy to make too; you can have it for a light lunch, make ahead for picnics or for dinner with a side salad. Tulips optional.
homemade vegan sausage rolls.
Bringing together delicious flaky pastry and comforting filling, there's something very welcoming about a homemade sausage roll straight from the oven. Whether you're already vegan or plant based, taking part in Veganuary, trying to cut down your meat consumption or are just curious, you may have tried out a vegan sausage roll this January. Looking for a similar recipe? Here's how to make homemade vegan sausage rolls with just three simple, ready-to-go ingredients.
I love vegetarian sausage rolls anyway and often use the likes of Linda McCartney, Quorn and Good Life in my cooking. For these, I used Fry's vegan sausages as they were most like the kind you get in a classic sausage roll, though Quorn are similar too I could only find vegetarian. You'll find lots of pre-made puff pastry sheets are dairy free too; so you can use Jus Rol as well as many supermarket own offerings for all your pastry needs. They also worked out at around £3 for 6 vegan sausage rolls, with the added convenience that the main two ingredients are from the freezer aisle.
So how did I make these mouthwatering homemade vegan sausage rolls? Scroll on for the super easy recipe...

cheesy pumpkin pasta bake.
A comforting recipe that encompasses three of my favourite things; Autumn, pasta and cheese. This super simple seasonal dish only requires a few ingredients, and can be made with butternut squash once the pumpkin season is over. Perfect to make or bake ahead and eat over a few days, simply warming up for a welcoming midweek meal. Heavenly, autumnal and just a tiny bit indulgent as it actually features low fat Quark. Plus, whats wrong with a little extra cheese when you're getting your five a day, right? Balance.
parmesan cheese scones with parmesan butter and cranberry sauce. (+ hamper giveaway)
Perfect for lunch, a festive spread or as part of a savoury afternoon tea, a warm plate of fresh cheese scones are always a welcome addition. This scone recipe in particular premium twist with a hint of festive cheer in the form of luxury Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano infused butter and sweet and tangy cranberry sauce.
One of the world’s oldest and richest cheeses, its no surprise this PDO cheese is often referred to as the King of Cheeses. A hard Italian cheese, Parmigiano Reggiano, sometimes referred to in the UK as parmesan cheese, is still produced today as it was nine centuries ago. With a very special make-up and recipe, the product is only be allowed to be made in particular areas of Italy, with specially selected dairies and producers of the highest quality. This makes it a real treat all year round, but especially in the festive season when it's time to indulge in some delicious cheese.
In fact, I've teamed with Parmigiano Reggiano to host a special Christmas hamper giveaway. Scroll down to read the recipe and how you could win...
mince pie christmas freak shake.
It's beginning to look like... I want to eat all the Christmas food. Whizzed up mince pie is met with a good quality ice cream, milk, cinnamon and cocoa powder before being stacked with mini mince pies and striped candy canes. Indulgent! cherry, lemon and pistachio shortbread.
Inspired by Summer, this lovely and light shortbread recipe is made up of fresh cherries, crushed pistachio and zesty lemon. Bringing together sweet, tart and nutty flavours makes this an easy, make-ahead dessert that wouldn't look out of place at a family BBQ, packed up in a picnic or as an easy dinner party dessert. The Picota Cherries especially bring a sweetness and depth to this homemade shortbread, which is offset by the contrasting ingredients.
Hailing from the beautiful Spanish valley of Jerte, 200km west of Madrid, signature stemless Picota Cherries follow a natural blossom and harvest season. This means that every day the arrival of the deliciously sweet cherries is different - for 2018 it's July and August. You can now get them in Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrison's and Aldi from July - but be quick, they may only be around for another month or so.
You can also be in a chance of winning a picnic hamper with Jerte Picota Cherries! Each hamper includes two delicious punnets of cherries, a bottle of Cava, flutes, a cherry pitter and napkins. Scroll down for the granita recipe, as well as to find out how to enter...
canapés and cocktails: simple party food ideas with domu.
Party season is fully upon us and I can't think of a better reason to whip up some canapés on posh serveware. The best thing about having pretty plates and boards is that you can make something super simple into something rather fancy in an instant. The friendly lot at Domu sent me a few of their latest serveware pieces to get creative with this season - just in time for New Year's Eve! I made a spicy chipotle king prawn cocktail and asparagus, soft cheese and Parma ham wraps as well as some mango and orange fizz to celebrate the occasion. Cheers!
