creme egg meringue nests.

With Easter eggs and tempting chocolate treats lining the shelves, it can only mean one thing. Time for Creme Egg recipes galore! From beautiful baking to sweet treats, every year I love to see what Cadbury Creme Egg recipe will come up next. This year I've continued the gloriously chocolately Easter theme with these easy-to-make Creme Egg meringue nests. These would be fun to make with children, although an equally adorable make-ahead dessert for any Easter guests.

Once you've melted your chocolate and dyed it in the signature egg-yellow shade, all your really have to do is pipe away along the meringues, fill with an indulgent chocolate whipped cream and top with half a Creme Egg. You could have lots of fun decorating the meringues in all kinds of colours - the more messy and creative the better in my opinion! Enjoy!

Shopping list.
(Makes four meringue nests)
♥ Four meringue nests
♥ 100g milk chocolate
♥ 50g white chocolate
♥ Yellow food colouring (I used Sugarflair Egg Yellow)
♥ 50ml double cream
♥ Two Creme Eggs
♥ Extra chocolate shavings as optional decoration

Equipment; saucepans, glass bowls, piping bags, grater, electric whisk optional.

Step one. Melt your 100g milk chocolate and 50g white chocolate separately in glass bowls over a pan of boiling water.

Step two. When melted, dye your white chocolate with the egg yellow.

Step three. When slightly cooled and easier to handle, fill piping bags and decorate your nests. Allow to set.

Step four. You should have 50g of the chocolate leftover, which you now need to whisk this up with the double cream. This is easier with an electric whisk or whisk attachment but by hand is fine too.

Step five. Arrange the nests with a dollop of whipped cream and half a Creme Egg on top! Ta da!

How do you eat yours? Will you be making any Cadbury Creme Egg cakes or bakes this season? Or perhaps have an easy Easter recipe of your own?
