afternoon tea at ladurée, dublin.

If you come here often, you'll know I'm a massive fan of afternoon tea. When my mum and I get together we can't help but plan in a little bit (read a lot) of tea, miniature sandwich and cake time. Any excuse to eat macarons, right? So when we saw there was a Ladurée macaron and patisserie shop in Dublin, we just had to go. For 45 Euros for the both of us, we were pretty impressed with the experience too. Cue macarons.

The shop itself is just like you'd expect. Glass cases with colourful macarons beneath; a rainbow of flavours from liquorice to lemon and chocolate to chai. Shades of pastel crockery and cute cake stands brimming with macarons are met with elegance and glamour through intricate murals, ornate mirrors and sumptuous seating.

For the €45 total, the menu featured ham, salmon and cream cheese sandwiches, two cakes, madeleines, financiers and your choice of six macarons.

How adorable are the wrapped up sandwiches? The waxed paper was a lovely touch and kept the bread extra fluffy and filling moist. On that particular day, we could choose lemon, fruit or rose cake. Naturally we skipped the fruit cake in favour of these beauties.

The cakes were delicious and so well made, with light sponge and vibrant flavour. However I was more excited about the macarons, for which we chose lemon, pistachio, chocolate, coffee, salted caramel and Marie Antoinette, which was infused with tea. Of course my favourite was pistachio but the salted caramel came a close second. Okay, I loved them all, alright?

Alongside we enjoyed their Signature Earl Grey with regular top ups. I just would have loved to take that tea set back on the plane with me!

Overall, you can tell that Ladurée got the seal of approval from mum and I. I would recommend to anyone and would love to return to one of their England branches.

Have you ever been to afternoon tea at Ladurée? Or tried one of their famous macarons?
