I finally found them... the new Maltesers buttons! And like most delicious chocolatey inventions, I couldn't help get creative in the kitchen with them. From cookies to cupcakes, I couldn't decide what would really show off the crunchy texture of these moreish morsels. And so here is my take on a millionaire's shortbread with a twist.
Scroll down for my recipe for Malteser buttons millionaire's shortbread...
♥ 200g plain white flour
♥ 60g caster sugar
♥ 210g unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
♥ 90g light brown sugar
♥ 320ml can of condensed milk
♥ 200g good quality dark chocolate
♥ A bag of Malteser buttons
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees.
Step one. Make the shortbread by mixing together the flour, caster sugar and 120g of the butter. The rest of the butter is for the caramel.
Step two. Bake your shortbread on 180 degrees for 12 minutes.
Step three. Make the caramel by slowly melting together the remaining 90g of butter, condensed milk and brown sugar on a low heat, continuously stirring. The caramel will be golden and creamy, like a Werther's original sweet.
Step four. When your shortbread is baked and slightly cool, pour over the caramel and allow to set - use the fridge if you want to speed things up.
Step five. When the caramel is set, slowly melt your dark chocolate and pour on top.
Allow to set again before slicing! It'll keep for around 3 days in a cool, airtight container (if you don't devour them first...)
Have you tried the Malteser buttons yet? What recipes would you make with them?

ReplyDeleteGoing to graduate school was a positive decision for me. I enjoyed the coursework, the presentations, the fellow students, and the professors. And since my company reimbursed 100% of the tuition, the only cost that I had to pay on my own was for books and supplies. Otherwise, I received a free master’s degree. All that I had to invest was my time. millionaire affirmations
