With glowing glacé cherries, the subtle hint of almond essence and the signature drizzle of white icing, these delicate Christmas biscuits encompass the best of a Bakewell tart. Great for festive buffets, homemade gift ideas or to keep in your biscuit tin throughout December, these cute Bakewell inspired biscuits are the third of my festive recipes from my Christmas collaboration with Central England Cooperative. Shopping list.
(Makes 12-15 biscuits)
♥ 150g unsalted butter
♥ 150g white caster sugar
♥ 220g plain flour, plus extra to dust the surface
♥ 2 tsp almond essence
♥ A splash of milk
♥ Icing sugar
♥ Glacé cherries

All ingredients available at your local Central England Co-op store - though you might need to source the cutter elsewhere.

Step one. Cream together the butter and sugar until combined, Add the flour, almond essence and a splash of milk to help get it going if needed.

Step two. Roll out your dough on a floured surface and cut out Christmas tree shapes. Place on a lined baking tray and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden. Allow to cool before decorating.

Step three. Fill a piping bag and decorate with a drizzle of icing. Next arrange the pieces of glacé cherry - you can get about four pieces from one cherry using scissors. I then sprinkled with gold shimmer, which I found in my local Coop.
