teppanyaki grill at home.

I love an excuse for a get together. dinner party, special occasion, food blogger meet up, date night, Christmas... it just so happens that food seems to be a focal point too. I was recently asked if i'd like to try out something from the vonshef range and was instantly drawn to the teppanyaki grill. All you need is a dinner table, your favourite south east asian flavours, stockpile of soy sauce and some hungry guests...

With a massive 2000w power, non stick plate and oil drip tray, the £16.99 (original rrp £69.95) piece of kit heats up super fast and can be sizzling your meat, fish or veg in seconds. It requires very little oil and has a choice of various temperatures to play with. Coming with six mini spatulas, everyone can get involved with playing chef and taking a piece whenever they get peckish.

For my first go, I made sesame, chilli & soy sauce beef with thinly sliced flat iron steak, teriyaki salmon and garlic, coriander and ginger king prawn skewers along with fresh egg noodles with red peppers and tossed in sesame oil. I've since tried out salmon skewers too!

With just a little vegetable or or sesame oil, you can start cooking. We rubbed the oil on with kitchen roll before using the grill, to ensure full coverage with minimum oil.

It wasn't long before satisfying sizzles and garlic and coriander aromas filled the room. I rarely cook with raw king prawns but this definitely had the appeal; you just had to be careful not to overcook them by seconds. This was a nice little starter before breaking out the beef, salmon and noodles.

The beef was a chance to try out how the teppanyaki grill fared for searing meat. This sesame beef recipe is gorgeous served a tiny bit pink with a crispy seared outer. I usually make it with rump steak but this flat iron was absolutely perfect in texture, and didn't need resting at all.

The well seasoned grill made this salmon gloriously crispy with a sticky, chargrilled teriyaki flavour.

I've already used this again for a dinner party and hopefully will get some food blogger friends round to try it out too.

Note: I was sent a complimentary teppanyaki grill for an honest review.
