myhotel Brighton Review

Set slap bang in the centre of Jubilee Square, you'll find a quirky and contemporary space to rest your head; myhotel in Brighton. I headed there for work a few weeks ago, which perfectly coincided with a Brighton blogger meet that weekend. More about that soon, for now I want to share this amazingly cooler than cool hotel.

Upon walking into reception, you're met with groovy retro inspired design, tropical fish tanks and Seventies style interiors featuring rich oranges and purples. I want to say there was a lava lamp and an egg chair but I can't remember - I wouldn't be surprised.

Feeling like I was on a space ship, I walked to my room along silver and orange corridors, decorated with textured walls and vibrant prints. No surprises that my room continued the funky theme with curvy furniture, splashes of orange and a boho style blind. I'm not apologising for saying the word funky, twice now, because that pretty much sums it up.

So the pros? Comfy bed. Check. Cool design. Check. Bit of plant life. Check. TV. Check. Space for laptop, free Wifi and a light and airy desk. Triple check. The minimalist desk design even had a clever little mirror that pulled out to turn it into a vanity table.

Still though in such a space age style hotel room, why no charging point right by your bed? That curvy little bedside table part was just asking for a hideaway phone charger. No?

The bathroom continued the effortless and minimalist cool of the rest of the room. I felt a bit like I was in a space shuttle, except with luxurious smelling bath products and a well stocked bar. Fluffy towels were in abundance and I loved the thick cotton texture of the branded robes.

After a lovely meal out, I came home to realise there was a colour changing moodlighting bulb in the room too. Pretty groovy.

As for dinner, there is an Indian restaurant next door called The Chilli Pickle with fantastic reviews. It's a separate business and I recommend booking a table in advance, as we arrived at 8pm and there was no availability. On the other hand, you're more than welcome to order a curry takeaway to your room. I just knew that my clumsiness + white sheets and a rogan josh would have a gone down badly.

Fast forward to the morning and after a greats night's sleep, I took to the coffee machine for an illy americano. Took me a while to work out the ins and outs, and some instructions would've been really helpful. Sadly there was no milk either so my americano soon became an espresso. Beautiful coffee but just a shame they hadn't stocked up!

The breakfast included an array of granola, yoghurt, fruit, cereals and drinks, which all went down rather well. I was too shy to take a picture whilst strangers were delving into the granola pots but everything was quirkily presented in glass jars and baskets.

All in all, a great little hotel oozing charisma and charm. I stayed in a standard double, where prices start at £85 a night. Not bad at all for a central Brighton location in a hotel that felt pretty swish. There are also Bloomsbury and Chelsea hotels - which if they're the same I thoroughly recommend looking into.
