festive afternoon tea for 2015 at the hyatt regency, birmingham.

Festive Afternoon Tea Hyatt Regency

One of my favourite things about Christmas has to be the launch of all the festive afternoon tea menus. Of course I never get round to trying them all (in my dreams) but it's so interesting to see what Christmas twist they'll put on the classic. Last year you might remember my review of the Hyatt Regency afternoon tea in Birmingham, where they served up spiced apple and calvados profiteroles, chocolate gingerbread and chestnut and orange slices alongside the usual suspects. This year I've been invited along again for a sneak peek at their Christmas afternoon tea for 2015...

What a lovely spread, I'm sure you'll agree. This year's offering felt like an extra festive affair, where they'd even decked out the cake stands with fresh holly and Christmas candles. With a selection of teas or hot drinks available, I went for my favourite Earl Grey whilst I chatted with other Birmingham foodies.

The mix of sandwiches went down really well, with my favourite being the salmon with mustard and dill; it was a little sharp but being a mustard fan I enjoyed it. The turkey and cranberry chutney sandwich was a winner all round and soon the plates were nothing but crumbs.

Alongside my never ending Earl Grey (the service there is fab!) I indulged in my first mince pie of the season alongside an utterly delicious spiced cinnamon profiterole. The gingerbread people and festive scones were all devoured, with a full gluten free option available too.

We all came away feeling particularly festive and well fed - can't say much better than that! I'd definitely recommend the Hyatt afternoon tea as one of my favourites in Birmingham centre, and the festive one would be the perfect treat for a family gathering, work party or just because.

Have you been for festive afternoon tea yet? What do you think is the best afternoon tea in Birmingham?

Note: We dined as guests of the Hyatt Regency. All opinions and photographs my own.

  2. Oh it looks lovely! The gingerbread trousers are delightful and the scones sound delicious - free flowing Earl Grey tea will always get my vote too! Did they have a vegetarian option do you know? I see one sandwich on the list but as they offer gluten free I suspect they probably offer a veggie selection too!

    1. Hello! I'm pretty sure they do as they asked about any dietary requirements beforehand. They are very good with things like that x

  3. Sounds lovely! I had a festive afternoon tea at the weekend and it was rather nice but I'm particularly loving the gingerbread men and the option of mulled wine with this one.
