Party season is fully upon us and I can't think of a better reason to whip up some canapés on posh serveware. The best thing about having pretty plates and boards is that you can make something super simple into something rather fancy in an instant. The friendly lot at Domu sent me a few of their latest serveware pieces to get creative with this season - just in time for New Year's Eve! I made a spicy chipotle king prawn cocktail and asparagus, soft cheese and Parma ham wraps as well as some mango and orange fizz to celebrate the occasion. Cheers!
Shopping list.
For the asparagus wraps♥ Asparagus spears
♥ Parma ham slices
♥ Soft cream cheese with chives
For the chipotle king prawn cocktails
♥ 200g cooked, peeled king prawns♥ Seafood sauce or 50/50 tomato sauce and mayo
♥ Chipotle chilli flakes
♥ Fresh dill to garnish
For the mango and orange fizz
♥ 50/50 fresh mango and orange juice
♥ One shot of vodka
♥ You favourite prosecco or cava
For the asparagus wraps, simple grill the asparagus spears for 5-8 minutes on a medium heat with a little olive oil or low calorie spray. Add a little soft cheese and wrap up. I served on these lovely spoons from the VonShef 9 Piece Slate Serving Set. I also have been using their electric food slicer with the 4kg Parma ham I got from Italy - beautiful!
For the king prawn cocktails, simple mix together the prawns with the seafood sauce and some of the chilli flakes, according to taste. Finish with a few extra flakes and sprig of fresh dill. I served in the cute marble effect pots from the same nine piece set. I'm in love with the slate it comes on too - such lovely handles and a great size for a good spread.
Last up is the cocktail recipe I mixed up the fruit juice and vodka over ice, served up in flutes and topped with Prosecco. I also used the VonShef 9pc Glass Manhattan Cocktail Set to achieve a really good, frothy top to an espresso martini I made recently. Definitely a welcome addition to my little bar area.
