macarons: an illustrated guide.

Macarons, macarons, macarons. I may have gone a bit macaron mad. As well as food blogging, searching out the best sushi and Instagram-ing my breakfast, I also love to play around with illustrations. So I thought I'd put the two together and create this recipe guide to making the tiny treats.

Macaron Recipe Guide

What do you think? Would you try your hand at macarons with French meringue now or maybe you've got some tips to share too? I'd love to know your thoughts on my illustrated infographic approach too. I've written a recipe tutorial before but it is pretty lengthy and picture heavy!

Now you've mastered the basics, you can find my macaron recipes on my blog, as well as vegan macarons with chickpea liquid instead of egg whites. Enjoy!

PS, Feel free to share my guide but please credit back to my blog!

  1. I love this guide! I just can't seem to master them so will have to give this ago.

  2. lovely picture reference here Emily - making macarons is a science as much as an art !

  3. Very cute! I love making macarons - need to try the chickpea liquid ones though - am so curious

  4. I keep meaning to try and make macarons - I love them so much. I bought some dark green colour to have a go at pistachio ones and then forgot about it. This is a great guide - pinning for future reference.

  5. LOVE this! Haven't made any for ages and all your macaron madness has got me in the mood! :) x

  6. It's so cute!! Easy to read and the drawings keep it interesting. Yes!

  7. This is just lovely Emily! I too adore macarons and this illustration just epitomises how pretty and delicate they are. Well done!

    1. Hello! Substitute 10g of icing sugar for cocoa powder. You can see a recipe for chocolate shells here... Good luck!
