Chocolate. Triple chocolate, at that. Could there be anything finer than that first bite into your favourite chocolate bar? Personally, I love a really good milk chocolate or anything with almonds, hazelnuts or pistachios. And so, in teaming up with Expedia and their 2017 calender of foodie experience and events, I was inspired by this month's celebration of all things cocoa at York Chocolate Festival.
This triple chocolate macaron recipe is made up of cocoa infused macaron shells, a Nutella spread filling and a final drizzle of white chocolate. Macarons and chocolate? Yes please!
♥ Two egg whites
♥ 75g caster sugar
♥ 70g icing sugar
♥ 20g cocoa powder
♥ 75g ground almonds, sieved until fine
For the filling and topping
♥ Nutella, or similar hazelnut chocolate spread
♥ 75g white chocolate
Equipment; electric mixer, sieve, baking tray, macaron mat, piping bags, spatula.
Step one. Make your macaron shells according to my guide to making homemade macarons. As these are chocolate, 20g of icing sugar is replaced by cocoa powder, which should go in at the same time with the ground almonds.
Step two. When cooled, pipe your chocolate spread to one side of a shell and and form together to make a complete macaron.
Have you ever tried a chocolate macaron recipe? What are your favourite chocolate bars? If you're a bit of a chocoholic and liked these, you might like my Malteser macarons, Crunchie macarons or Mint Aero flavour macarons!
I love these! Macarons are my fave, and triple chocolate sounds like heaven :)
