foodie penpals.

after seeing foodie penpals on twitter i just knew i'd love to get involved. each month, you receive a penpal to create a foodie box for and someone who makes up a box for you. with a £10 limit, it was really fun to put a surprise box together based on what you knew about them over twitter and emails - throwing in something local for them to try too. this month, i got kim from london to buy for, whilst anne of random things through my letterbox got me :)

a brilliant mixed box of lincolnshire poacher cheese, gingerbread biscuits, spicy thai crackers and of course... tea! i really enjoyed the cheese with a glass of merlot at the weekend - and then devoured the thai crackers watching dvds. she's right they're very moreish!

the local foodie mag had a feature on lincolnshire sausages of course, as well as loads of brill recipe ideas. the gingerbread had lots of cute facts about grantham on the side :) i haven't eaten these yet and considering using them in a ginger cheesecake. all in all - a lovely box!

so what did i send?

kim explained how she loved to bake and would like to try something local. so i sent over some quirky cupcake cases and measuring spoons (which i wanted to keep for myself!), some sugar mice and of course a melton mowbray pork pie and local leicestershire made chutney to go with it.

bring on next month!

love food and want to get involved? you definitely have to be a food lover but you don't have to be a food blogger! find out more here if you're based in the uk and here for the usa.
